How does probeo place a page in the funnel?
Funnel position is where a page sits in the reader’s journey: learning about a subject, comparing options, deciding, or already a customer. Probeo records it for every page, alongside the stage the reader is at when they arrive. Read across a site, it shows which parts of the journey have pages and which are thin.
What probeo checks
For each page, probeo records two things, each with a reason drawn from what is visible on the page.
- The page’s funnel stage: awareness, consideration, decision or support. A page that assumes the reader is already a customer is support.
- The reader’s lifecycle stage: one of exploring, starting, managing, growing or exiting. This is the stage of the reader’s own situation, such as someone still exploring an idea or someone already running the thing.
Probeo’s intent check uses the same stages: an awareness page should educate, a consideration page should evaluate, a decision page should decide, and a support page should support.
How probeo checks it
A language model reads a structured outline of the page’s visible content: its headings, sections, calls to action, FAQ and pricing. It records the page’s funnel stage and the reader’s lifecycle stage, each with the evidence it used. A page is analyzed again every 28 to 56 days, with a site’s higher-ranked pages sooner.
What this does not cover
Neither stage is drawn from traffic or search data; both are readings of the page itself. A page that serves two stages is recorded at one, and the role drift check is where a page trying to do too much shows up.
Common questions
Why does the funnel stage come with a reason?
So it can be checked. The reason names what on the page the reading rested on, such as a pricing table or a comparison, which makes a wrong stage easy to spot and argue with.
What’s the difference between the funnel stage and the lifecycle stage?
The funnel stage is about the page: where it sits in the journey. The lifecycle stage is about the reader: where they are in their own situation when the page meets them.
Does probeo say which stage a page should be?
No. It records the stage the page shows, and flags an intent that doesn’t fit that stage. Whether the page is aimed at the right stage is the site’s decision.
